This mantel is in highly figured hard eastern white sugar maple from Vermont. All of the apliques were provided by the customer and the corbles are by Enkeboll. Stain is a warm cherry oil with a semigloss lacquer finish.
Carved corble is the Acanthus by Enkeboll. Material is Eastern white maple with a patina faux finish.
Black walnut was used to make this one. Four quarter (4/4) boards were used (actual thickness 3/4") to make the box. All joints were mitered on the table saw and then glued together. It does look very much like a solid piece of wood. All corners were rounded with a 1/2" radius.
