This stairway system is in a beautiful home at Nine Mile Falls, Washington. This first photo is the foyer and shows what you see as you enter the home. |
The 4 figures atop the posts are bronzed and all are lighted except the center one shown here. |
There are 4 levels in the home. This shows the 4th, or upper level. |
The carpet runner is continuous with a brass rod anchor system. |
The post on the left (background) is unique. The base rests on the concrete in the basement and goes all the way up past the third level (nearly 14 feet) It was built in two pieces with the seam just under the handrail and in line with the bottom of the parapet above the lower level. There are 13 raised panels in this post alone. |
This photo shows the lower and second levels. Note the overhead woodwork covering the transition to the forth level. |
The longest run was the transition from the 2nd to the 3rd (foyer) level. Note the matching caprail above the treads on both sides. |
This is a closeup of the post work. All the posts were 9" square and all have solid oak raised panels. There were 29 raised panels in the system and placement of each was critical and required careful planning. The stain color was a custom match and the finish was 6 coats of satin lacquer. |
