Looking in from the family room breakfast bar. The required outlet almost disappears.

The vertacles on either side of the cook top are sibling spice rollouts.

The sink and cook top cabinets were bumped out 3 inches and by using a 3 1/2" post

we achieved a great look.

The fluted columns at all the major intersections are only 3/4" deep but by introducing a plinth block and a 1/2 capital the result is quite stunning.

The built in microwave oven with a drawer stack below. Notice the custom fluting that is carefully located around the microwave trim.

The double ovens are nested neatly in the corner. The cabinet over the frig is a lighted curio.

The appliance garage and curio make a nice corner combination.

Note the crown molding detail around the range hood canopy.

A closer look at the crown and fluting detail.

Note the detail on the arch. I custom make all of my own moldings for each of my jobs.

Looking towards the foyer and family room. Note how the sink is bumped out 3 inches. There are posts on each side.

This is a good view of the island from the other side. The trash compactor is to the right of the sink and a beverage cooler is on the near end. Note how the posts appear to be holding up the entire island. To achieve this effect I recessed the toe kick 6 inches under the cabinetry instead of the conventional 3 inches.

The island is functional on 3 sides. The 4th side facing the family room is quite formal.

All of the doors and drawers are inset, but extended 1/4" out to get full reveal of the 1/4" round bead on all the pieces.

Contrasting colors are becoming very popular.

Looking in from the dining room.

The range hood up close. All of the details in this hood were designed and built in my shop. The "basket of flowers" applique was the only thing I didn't make.

This view shows both china cabinets and the second of 2 breakfast bars. The china units have glass on all sides so as not to block the view of the lake.

This is the other china cabinet.

This is one of 2 china cabinets facing the family room.

The Terraces

This kitchen is located in "The Terraces" on Lake Coeur D A'lene, Idaho. The design work was done with my Cabinet Vision software. It renders drawings that have photo quality detail. The design phase was completed using e-mails with the homeowner in California. The wood used was clear Alder

with a custom color and clear coat. I designed, built and installed everything that you see in this series.
