The corners are clipped to allow for easy traffic passage through this area to the door to the deck.

The back side of the peninsular shown here has 6 matching panels that face the family and living room.

This beautiful kitchen was designed and built for Rod & Valerie Von Lehe in Medical Lake, Wa. The wood used was all golden hickory heart from Pennsylvania. All of the end panels and doors are "bookmatched."  This means that the unique grain and color patterns repeat everywhere. As you can see in the photo above, the back of the island has three recessed panels that are all exactly the same.
