The little shaker table in the foreground was made from the same lumber as the kitchen. It slides neatly under the counter top overhang.

Notice the crown bump out above the window. This is a bonus (free) and I put them in all of my kitchens.

Note the book matched panel work on the back and end of this peninsular. I always book match wherever possible. It makes a big difference in the overall appearance. Note also the book matched door on the uppers.

There is a double rollout susan in the far blind corner.

This photo and those that follow show the clean lines and elegant appearance of hickory heart lumber. There is no lighter sapwood in this kitchen (sapwood is a light blonde color always present in "calico hickory."  It is a beautiful golden brown.
